Traditional budgets cover a fixed period of time, e.g., a one-year time frame. For this reason, these budgets are sometimes referred to as “static” in nature. By contrast, some commentators suggest that some of the negative consequences of this choice can be overcome with the use of rolling (continuous) budgets.
