Acme is going to be expanding internationally over the next two years to a country of your choosing.
For the purposes of this report, you select the country. You also get to assume whatever you want about Acme. As an example, you get to assume the business that Acme is in, the culture of Acme, whether Acme is union or non-union, etc. Feel free to just make this stuff up as you complete your report. Please note however, that the purpose of this assignment is of course, to demonstrate your understanding of IHRM. Therefore, make sure you are assuming things about Acme that allow you to demonstrate your knowledge!
In other words, don’t take the easy way out by assuming things about Acme that make for an easy final assignment here. It is in your best interest to do the opposite actually – assume things about Acme that give you room to talk about a lot of things and showcase your understanding of the course material.

As CEO of Acme, I need your help!
You are the HR Manager of Acme and since the company is planning on expanding internationally over the next 2 years, your assistance will be critical to the success of this venture. Unfortunately while I am a good CEO, I do not know much of anything about human resources management. I definitely do not know anything at all about IHRM. I rely on you to help with all this “HR stuff!”.
Please explain to me how the IHRM function relates to global business strategy. Please give me some examples of how this might work in our situation here at Acme.
Please explain to me how a well planned and executed IHRM policy brings value to an organization. Please give me some examples of how this might work for Acme.
Please explain the cultural differences between New York (where Acme is located), and the host country we will be doing business in.
Please give me your recommendations as to the IHRM best practices we should pursue in each of these 4 areas:
Recruitment, selection, and repatriation of employees to work abroad in the host country
Training and development of employees working abroad (both our employees from the USA, and the 30 new employees we will be hiring in the host country)
